Department of Agriculture visits FTI

On August 14, 2024, the Food Terminal, Inc. (FTI) Distribution Hub in Taguig City welcomed Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. His visit, accompanied by FTI President and CEO (PCEO) Mr. Joseph Rudolph C. Lo, was part of the DA’s ongoing efforts to bolster the availability of rice in the market. Secretary Laurel inspected the FTI facilities, crucial in the DA's Rice Program.

Following the tour, Secretary Laurel visited the KADIWA ng Pangulo in Taguig City, a focal point for the DA’s P29 Rice and Rice-for-All Programs. These initiatives offer rice at highly subsidized prices, with the P29 Rice Program providing rice at ₱29 per kilo and the Rice-for-All Program offering well-milled rice at ₱45 per kilo. These efforts are part of the government's broader strategy to stabilize rice prices and ensure accessibility for the public.

Secretary Laurel’s visit highlights the DA’s commitment to revitalizing FTI’s role as a key distribution hub for agricultural products, which is critical as the nation faces food security challenges. Under PCEO Lo’s leadership, through the initiative of the Department of Agriculture, FTI remains dedicated to supporting rice farmers by enhancing the efficiency of rice distribution and ensuring fair prices for their produce.

This visit underscores the strong partnership between the DA and FTI, united in their mission to create a stable and sustainable food supply chain that benefits consumers and producers across the Philippines.
